Cedar Park Serving Cedar Park Leander area

# Stained Concrete Floors for Cedar Park Homes

People ask us about stained concrete floors in Cedar Park, northwest of Austin, and we take jobs in nearby [Leander](/service-areas/leander/) too. Homeowners in Cedar Park subdivisions like Twin Creeks, Buttercup Creek, and Ranch at Brushy Creek call us, and so do local businesses. The requests are usually garage floor coatings, back patio staining, and indoor slabs with no decorative finish yet. We confirm each job there from our base in Austin before we book it.

We don't keep an office out here, so check the timing with us before you plan around a date.

Why us

## What Cedar Park Owners Can Expect

- We specialize in decorative concrete, including garage coatings and outdoor staining
- We've worked out of Austin since 2001
- On tight new slabs, we test a small area before you pick a color
- Your proposal says whether we moisture test, which depends on the slab and the system. That testing helps garage epoxy stay put.
- We don't make up local projects. Images that aren't marked as our work are there to show the idea.

## How We Get to Jobs in Cedar Park

Cedar Park sits along US 183 and the 183A toll road northwest of Austin. That's the route our equipment takes to jobs in Cypress Canyon, Block House Creek, and along Whitestone Boulevard. We haul a fair amount of gear up 183A for decorative work. Stain, sealer, and any grinding or dust control gear the job calls for all ride along with the crew. Sealers that go on in several coats can mean more than one trip.

We don't commit to a set response time up here. Tell us the square footage, what's on the floor now, and when you'd like it done. We'll give you an estimated window based on our calendar. Weather, material availability, and site conditions can change that window.

New homes are usually easy to work in. With driveway parking, easy access to power, and empty rooms, the schedule tends to get shorter and so does the labor on your quote.

## What the Slabs Are Like in Newer Cedar Park Homes

Most homes in the area are newer and built on concrete slabs poured right on the ground. Those slabs are often flatter and less patched than the ones in older Austin homes, which helps. Newer slabs have quirks of their own, though. Some still carry leftover curing compound (a coating builders spray on as the concrete sets). Others were troweled too smooth to soak up much, and most garage slabs weren't roughed up for a coating to grip.

So why can't you pick a color from a photo? A tight Cedar Park slab takes acid stain in its own way compared with an older, more open one. Water based stains and polished finishes act differently on these slabs too. That's one reason we test a small area before we agree on a color.

Back patios around here get full afternoon sun, so we usually talk about lighter colors, cool deck textures, and UV stable outdoor sealers. Garage floors in neighborhoods like Caballo Ranch and Crystal Falls can take epoxy or polyaspartic (a fast curing coating) well. The slab has to be ground the right way and tested for moisture first. Your written proposal lists the prep for your job.

### Why we talk about this area

Newer subdivisions in [Cedar Park](https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/cedar-park-tx) and [Leander](https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/leander-tx) send us requests for garage floor coatings and acid stained back patios. That new home work is why we write about this area.

Each project in our gallery lists what the job took. Find a floor close to what you have in mind, then ask what your own slab would change.

Questions

## Questions we get about Cedar Park

Do you cover Cedar Park?

We take jobs in both towns one at a time. Send the address, the rough square footage, and a few photos of the slab, and we'll confirm coverage and give you an estimated start date.

Are new slabs easier to stain?

Sometimes, but not automatically. New slabs are usually flat and unpatched, which helps. But a slab smoothed with a power trowel can be tight and not soak up much stain, and leftover curing compound has to come off. We test before we recommend a color.

Can you coat a new garage floor before we move in?

An empty garage is the easiest time to do it. The slab has to be cured enough, and the moisture test has to come back within what the coating can handle. If it's too early, we'll tell you instead of coating over a problem.

What works for a hot back patio out here?

We'd go with lighter colors, a textured cool deck finish, added grit for more grip, and a UV stable outdoor sealer. No finish makes a wet surface fully slip proof, so put mats at the doors people use coming in from outside. Dark colors soak up a lot more heat in Central Texas summers, and we'd rather tell you that up front.

Are your Cedar Park project photos from real jobs?

We ask for the owner's permission before we post photos of a customer's home. Any image on this site that isn't marked as our finished work is there to show the idea. It isn't proof of a local job.

Are stained concrete floors expensive?

The price comes down to the slab's condition, the square footage, removing the flooring you have now, and the finish you pick. Staining the slab you already have usually costs less per square foot than new tile or hardwood. Send photos and room sizes and we'll give you an estimate for your job.

What are the downsides of staining concrete?

Stain shows everything that's already in the slab. Any cracks, patches, or leftover glue stay visible after staining. The color depends on how much stain the concrete soaks up, and the floor is hard underfoot. We go over these tradeoffs when we look at your slab, so you know what to expect.

How long does concrete staining last?

With the sealer kept up, stained concrete typically lasts for many years. The sealer usually needs to be redone every few years, depending on how much foot traffic it gets and how it's cleaned. Have it checked for resealing when the shine starts wearing thin, instead of going by a set schedule.

### Still deciding?

Snap a couple of photos and send them with the room size and what's on the floor now. You'll get a straight answer on the slab before you commit to anything.
