# Stained Concrete Floors for Wolf Ranch Homes

You can ask us about stained concrete floors in Wolf Ranch, a planned community in Georgetown. It runs west from Interstate 35 along SH 29 to the [South San Gabriel River](https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/san-gabriel-river). Homes have gone up here since Hillwood broke ground in 2015, and they sit on ground level slabs. Owners ask us for stained floors, garage coatings, patio resurfacing, and restoration of worn decorative concrete. We drive up from Austin, where we've been based since 2001.

We take Wolf Ranch jobs one at a time, so check with us on dates before you book.

Why us

## What Wolf Ranch Homeowners Get From Our Crew

- Decorative concrete is our whole trade, not a sideline of a remodeling business
- We've worked across the Austin area since 2001, and we match the prep to each slab on the jobs we take north of the city
- A clear read on whether your slab will work before you pick a color or finish
- A quote that shows how square footage, removal, prep, repairs, and sealer add up
- Standards you can read that set what we will and won't claim

## How We Get to Wolf Ranch Jobs

Georgetown is about 30 miles north of Austin, and Wolf Ranch stretches west from the interstate along SH 29. I-35 is the main road our crew takes to get there. When the interstate is jammed, SH 130 is our backup route, running south past Round Rock and Pflugerville. We take SH 29 east from Wolf Ranch into downtown Georgetown. We tend to pack up our equipment and drive it back each evening. Anything that has to stay overnight, we'll talk over with you first.

Wolf Ranch jobs don't get a fixed response time from us. It turns on how booked we are, the size of your slab, and how many trips up I-35 the job takes. Room sizes and a few photos let us give you an estimated date range off our calendar. Weather, late materials, or what we run into on site can move it.

Access is part of the quote, too. We check for trailer parking, power, and whether stairs are the only way in. The room has to stay empty until the floor dries and cures, so you'll want a spot for the couch in the meantime.

## What Your Wolf Ranch Slab Needs Before Staining

These newer slabs have a lot in common with other new builds in Williamson County. Many still carry curing compound, the film sprayed on fresh concrete, since nobody expected that concrete to show. Power troweling left the surface tight, so it takes in less stain than an older Austin slab. Most garage floors here haven't been diamond ground yet, so they often need grinding before epoxy or polyaspartic goes down.

Acid or water based? On tight concrete, acid stain can take unevenly, and water based stain gives a more predictable color. So we test a small patch before we lock in a color, and we don't quote a finish from a photo.

Back patios here get the same strong afternoon sun as the rest of Georgetown. For those, we'd pick a lighter color, a UV stable outdoor sealer, and a texture with better grip. Keep those patios dry where you can, and put mats wherever people step in from outside. We look at each Wolf Ranch slab by itself. Moisture testing is a call we make slab by slab, based on the system going down.

### Why we work out here

Wolf Ranch homeowners ask us about garage coatings and stained floors, and that work is what brings us up to Georgetown. But we don't keep a local office there.

Questions

## Questions we get about Wolf Ranch

Do you cover Wolf Ranch for decorative concrete work?

We take Wolf Ranch jobs one at a time. Send us the address, a rough square footage, and a few photos of the slab. We'll reply with whether we can take it on and when. We look at jobs in Georgetown Village, Sun City, Berry Creek, and Water Oak the same way.

Do you have an office or crew based in Wolf Ranch?

No. We're decorative concrete specialists based in Austin, and we drive up to jobs here on the interstate and SH 29. There's no Georgetown office or yard, and we won't act like there is.

How soon can you start a job in Wolf Ranch?

That's set by our calendar and how big the job is. A job with a lot of prep, old tile or carpet to pull, or several sealer coats takes longer to fit in. Your proposal shows an estimated date range, and we won't oversell how soon we can start. Weather, supply holdups, and site conditions can still change it.

What decorative concrete work do you do in Wolf Ranch?

Up here we do the same seven things as in Austin: stained concrete, polished concrete, epoxy and metallic epoxy, overlays and microtoppings, patio resurfacing, countertop resurfacing, and floor restoration. Step one is checking the slab. After that, what your job needs sets the prep. Each step, plus the sealer, is listed in the written proposal we send you.

Do new garage slabs in Williamson County need different prep?

The subdivision doesn't set the prep. Your slab does, and that can mean diamond grinding to the right texture plus a moisture test before a coating goes down. Even a newer garage slab in Williamson County can hold enough moisture to lift a coating if nobody tests it first.

How much does concrete staining cost in Wolf Ranch?

Your price is built on the slab's condition, the total square footage, any old flooring to remove, and the finish you like. Stain on the concrete you already have usually beats new tile or hardwood on cost per square foot. Send us photos and measurements for a price on your real Wolf Ranch job.

What are the downsides of staining concrete?

Stained concrete keeps every flaw in plain view. Cracks, patches, and old glue all show up in the finished floor. The color follows how much each area of concrete takes in, and the floor is hard underfoot. We point these out when we check your slab, so you go in knowing the tradeoffs.

Is stained concrete a good fit for new homes in Wolf Ranch?

Usually, yes. Cared for properly, stain on a newer ground level slab typically makes a tough, low maintenance floor for open rooms, depending on traffic and upkeep. We try a small test patch before choosing a color.

How long do stained concrete floors last?

With proper care, acid stain that's put down and sealed right typically lasts for many years, since it reacts into the concrete. The sealer usually needs a fresh coat every few years. How often comes down to foot traffic, how you clean, and how much sun hits outdoor surfaces. Once the shine wears thin in walking paths, call us to reseal it.

Are stained concrete floors slippery?

Sealed concrete can get slick when it's wet, a lot like polished stone. Inside the house, a satin or matte sealer usually gives more grip than a gloss one. For patios and other outdoor concrete around Wolf Ranch, we can add texture or a grit additive to the last coat of sealer for more grip. No surface is fully slip proof when it's wet, so keep wet areas dry and lay mats where people come in from outside.

### Still deciding?

A couple of photos and the room size will do. From there, we'll tell you what the slab needs, and the decision stays with you.
