Bare slab, simple finish
We'd check that the concrete can take stain, agree on a sample with you, and spell out the prep, the stain and the sealer on top.
Stained concrete cost • Planning guide
The cost to stain concrete floors in Austin starts with a ballpark range, then shifts with your slab and what the job includes.
| Type of staining job | Per square foot | For 500 square feet |
|---|---|---|
| Basic staining | $3 to $6 | $1,500 to $3,000 |
| Intermediate staining | $6 to $11 | $3,000 to $5,500 |
| Upgraded decorative staining | $11 to $16 | $5,500 to $8,000 |
These are national ranges from Concrete Network’s staining cost guide. They aren't our own job prices or an Austin average. The example column is 500 square feet times each rate. Treat it as math, not a quote. We price removal, repairs, moisture treatment, access, taxes and minimum charges once we see your job. Stencils, saw cuts and hand applied detail can run past these ranges.

Ask for the removal cost as its own line. Old glue, patches and damage hiding under the flooring can change your finish options and your budget.
First we'd figure out what stain and sealer are already on the floor. Cleaning, resealing, stripping and changing the color are all different jobs.
These are examples to plan with, not invoices from real jobs. Ask for an itemized price on your own floor.
Ask whether your quote changes if you clear the room yourself, pick a simpler design, or do connected rooms at the same time. Don't scrape up old black glue until it's been tested. Some older black glue contains asbestos.
You send photos, room sizes and the finish you want, and then we look at the slab in person. If we can't tell how it will look, we can test a sample right on your floor.

Send a few photos of the floor as it is today. We'll tell you which finishes it may take and what we'd want to check in person.
